This is a 8″ by 10″ photo print of an original piece of artwork inspired by the tale of Ceridwen, a Celtic mother goddess from the Welsh folk-tales.
Ceridwen had two children. Her daughter, Creirwy, was beautiful to behold her and was loved by her father, Lord Tegid, but her son, Morfran (meaning Great crow) was an ugly child and Tegid was repulsed by him. Ceridwen as a loving mother wanted nothing but happiness and acceptance for her son, so she went to great lengths to change his fate. She brewed a potion, the first 3 drops of which gave wisdom and contentment to the person who imbibed them. Sadly for Ceridwen Morfran is accidentally deprived of the drops and Gwion, a young boy employed to stir the cauldron, receives them instead and goes on to become the greatest bard in the Welsh tales, Taliesin.
This image is of the Cauldron of Life, the 3 precious drops and the life which springs from them. I wanted to show my wonder at the creation of life, the privilege of being a vessel for giving birth, and the magic of the stories continuing into the future.
This print (8″ X 10″) is on an A4 sheet to allow for framing and is produced with high quality HP inks on Epson Premium Glossy 255g/m² Photo Paper for longevity and fade resistance.
It will be sent a protective sleeve, in a hard-backed envelope.
